Unveiling the Success Story: My Journey through Find a job After Graduation in Taiwan
Hello, everyone! Welcome to my latest content. It has been a year since I last updated my personal website, as I've been juggling work and studies simultaneously. I am thrilled to share with you my current journey and experiences in finding a full time job in Taiwan.
For those of you who are still searching for a job, I wish you the best of luck, and I hope that my post can provide valuable insights to help you land the job of your dreams. When I found myself on the verge of desperation in my job search (believe it or not, I had already submitted a staggering 820 applications), a glimmer of hope appeared in the form of this incredible opportunity. It was a chance for me to finally apply my skills and knowledge in a practical setting, immersing myself in the dynamic telecommunications and technology industry that has been making waves in recent times.
The company I currently work for specializes in testing devices for communication connections, addressing a critical concern that many of us face on a daily basis. Think about our reliance on smartphones and laptops for various activities. We often worry about signal loss and connectivity issues. That's where my company comes in, conducting rigorous tests to ensure minimal signal loss and providing reassurance that our devices will perform flawlessly in the future.
However, my previous job search experiences during my bachelor's degree were far from pleasant (to say the least). I encountered numerous obstacles and struggled to secure employment. But this time around, I knew I needed to adopt a different approach. I refused to let past setbacks define my future in Taiwan, especially since I had no immediate plans to return to my home country. I was determined to thrive here and gradually develop my professional experience and workflow.
To give you an idea of the magnitude of my job search efforts, I submitted over 800 applications between February and April. That's an average of 50-60 applications per day! The outcome was a mixed bag—while I managed to secure a job through sheer perseverance, I also faced a fair share of rejections and limited options.
I began my search in October and November of last year *2022 (knowing it might not be the ideal time due to end of the year activity and also probabilities of people resign from their job).
I extensively researched information on local online discussion platforms to gain insights into interview preparation, contract signing, and other hidden details. Local discussion platform : Dcard or PTT (both platforms are famous in Taiwan, and you are required to have good Chinese abilities to understand what they are expressed)
I put my best effort into preparing both English and Chinese CVs. Asked local friend and teachers to help me check whether there are any revise or not.
I utilized both local and international job platforms, such as Cakeresume, Yourator, and LinkedIn, to broaden my job search.
I sought advice from friends and individuals who had successfully navigated similar situations, gaining new insights and refining my strategies along the way.
Not every COMPANY will accept you and willing to assist you to get the working visa. Make sure when you do your interview, this part you MUST ask whether they can provide or not. If yes, continue. If not then leave and find another.
From February 2023 onwards, I embarked on an arduous job search journey. With each passing day without a call or notification, I reminded myself not to feel foolish or lose hope. I remained resilient and open to opportunities, determined to keep going until the right opportunity came along. However, as time went on, the toll on my mental health became increasingly evident, and I found myself grappling with traumatic stress reminiscent of my bachelor's degree job seeking experience.

Be patience and also seek for support if you need it

To maintain a positive mindset, I have consciously made an effort to surround myself with a network of supportive friends and family. These individuals play a crucial role in my life, as they provide encouragement, understanding, and a constant reminder of my strengths. Their unwavering belief in me has been a source of inspiration and motivation, empowering me to keep pushing forward, even when faced with challenges and adversity.
In times of self-doubt or moments when negativity tries to creep in, having a strong support system has made all the difference. They offer a listening ear, offering words of wisdom and perspective that help me regain focus and perspective. Whether it's a heartfelt conversation over a cup of coffee or a simple phone call, their presence has a remarkable way of uplifting my spirits and reminding me of my potential.
I am truly grateful for their unwavering support and the impact they have on my well-being. Their genuine care and belief in me serve as a constant reminder that I am not alone in my journey. They celebrate my victories, no matter how small, and provide a shoulder to lean on during challenging times. Their encouragement fuels my determination and gives me the courage to step out of my comfort zone, embrace new opportunities, and pursue my goals relentlessly.
Surrounding myself with positive and uplifting influences has also allowed me to develop a greater sense of self-belief. Through their words and actions, they have helped me recognize my own worth and capabilities. They see my potential even when I may doubt myself, and their faith in me has taught me to trust in my abilities and embrace my unique qualities. Moreover, their presence serves as a constant reminder that life is not meant to be faced alone. The strength and resilience I draw from their support inspire me to reciprocate and be a source of encouragement for others. I strive to pay forward the kindness and support I have received, extending a helping hand and offering words of encouragement to those who may need it.
In essence, surrounding myself with supportive friends and family has been instrumental in maintaining a positive mindset. Their unwavering belief in me, their encouragement, and their presence have created a nurturing environment where I feel empowered to face challenges head-on and strive for personal growth. Together, we uplift and inspire each other, creating a strong foundation of love, support, and positivity that propels us forward on our respective journeys.
Simultaneously, I had to carefully manage my own expenses. As a graduate student in Taiwan, I was responsible for shouldering my financial burdens during the job search period. It was a balancing act, as I needed to be resourceful and thrifty while also maintaining my physical and mental well-being. I made sure to prioritize my health by engaging in activities that brought me joy and provided a much-needed break from the job search process.
In those moments of uncertainty, I reminded myself of the value of perseverance and resilience.
I understood that success rarely comes easily or quickly. It requires dedication, patience, and an unwavering belief in one's abilities. With this mindset, I continued to refine my job search strategies, tailor my applications to specific opportunities, and seek guidance from mentors and professionals in my desired field.
Moreover, I recognized the importance of continuous learning and personal growth. I invested time in acquiring new skills and knowledge that would enhance my marketability in the job market. I attended workshops, online courses, and networking events to expand my professional network and stay updated on industry trends. These endeavors not only added value to my resume but also instilled a sense of purpose and confidence in my abilities.
As the months went by, my persistence started to pay off. The number of interviews and callbacks increased, indicating that my efforts were making a difference. Though the job search process was arduous, I embraced each setback as an opportunity for growth and learning. I analyzed each rejection, identifying areas for improvement and refining my approach to future applications and interviews.
Finally, after numerous interviews and thorough evaluation processes, I received a job offer that aligned with my aspirations and career goals. The relief and joy I felt were indescribable, knowing that my hard work and determination had paid off.
Reflecting on this journey, I realise that the job search process is not just about securing a position; it's about personal growth, resilience, and the ability to adapt in the face of adversity. I am immensely grateful for the challenges I faced, as they shaped me into a stronger, more resilient individual.

To those who are still searching for a job, I want to encourage you to keep pushing forward. Remember that setbacks and rejections are not reflections of your worth or capabilities. Each rejection brings you closer to the opportunity that is meant for you.
Stay focused, remain persistent, and believe in your abilities. Your hard work and dedication will ultimately lead you to success.
